What's good fellow Hypebeasts, Liuser back again with another Hypebeasting post.

Before we start, I'd just like to say that this segment "Hypebeasting" will not only teach you what the hottest sneakers are at the moment, but also about the history and basics information of the sneakers. Most hypebeasts do not have this kind of knowledge and often get called out by other sneakerheads, BUT with that being said, you won't be that person ever again because I will be providing you with an abundance of information; you won't look silly or sound stupid ever again. It's all about becoming a SMARTER hypebeast.

To kick this off, we'll first dive into a concept I touched on last week. RESELLING. Over the course of the next few Hypebeasting posts, I will be taking you guys through the concepts of reselling. Today will be an intro :)

Resellers are probably one of the most hated and despised people within the sneaker community, however at the same time, the sneaker community needs them because they may be the only ones who can hook you up with a shoe you want. A reseller basically buys the sneaker and sells it again to someone else for a price higher than retail also known as "market value" to profit off them.

Reselling is quite simple in all honesty, its basic economics; the law of supply and demand.

Low Supply + High Demand = Higher Prices

The reason why resellers are able to make a profit of selling sneakers is because of the supply/demand. Resellers are smart because they target sneakers with lots of hype. The higher the level of hype, the higher the demand which means higher prices can be charged. However, they wont be able to charge any absurd price, only a price which consumers are ABLE and WILLING to pay. This price is known as the market value.

Resellers are smart people, why? Because they understand the concept of supply and demand and took it to their advantage. Reselling isn't easy. Often it is very time consuming as a lot of time is spent on researching, finding out what sneakers will sell and what sneakers wont. You also have to account for the time you spent lining up at the store, sometimes ranging from 1 night to 7 nights. Moreover, as technology has developed you can now purchase shoes online and the time you spend trying to checkout must also be accounted for. Not only is it time consuming but you also need to have money to invest into these sneakers your purchasing for resale. Maybe you have cash saved up, or maybe you have a credit card. Either way, you don't want to be spending the money and not getting a return. A lot of investments need to be made, both financially and time wise.

To Be Continued...

The sneaker that we will be discussing this week is the Nike Flyknit Trainer +, the predecessor of the Nike Flyknit Racer. Similar to the Nike Flyknit Racer, the Flyknit Trainer was designed for running, made with a Flyknit upper, dynamic flywire to give it the shpe, topped off (really at the bottom) a thick midsole. The Flyknit Trainer was released on the 27th July 2012 to coincide with the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympics. Many colourways have been released, however more recently the market value of the trainer has increased drastically as Kanye West was seen wearing them.

Kanye aka. Yeezus, is a very influential person in terms of fashion and sneakers. Whatever he wears, other people will wear, leading to increased demand and therefore high prices. The Flyknit Trainer + is a prime example of this, actually hitting the outlets for $40 a few years ago. Now, the resell value of these range anywhere from $300-$500AUD depending on the condition. The only colours however with this resale value is the black and white pair and the white and black pair, both seen on Yeezus himself.

Both these pairs are popular right now, and if you want to be a hypebeast these are definitely a must. I was actually lucky enough to get a pair of the black ones for $320, the most I spent on a shoe this year but its totally worth it. I am like Yeezus now.

Anyway, that's all from me and until next time...

Liuser.
